Jacobs Counsel is a boutique law firm for ambitious businesses and the people behind them. For many clients we work as ongoing outside counsel, staying close to the business on contracts, transactions, and brand protection, with focused experience in gaming, sports, and entertainment.
The point-guard approach
For many clients, we become the legal team they work with week after week. We learn the business, handle agreements and negotiations, and help the team work through decisions as they arise. A specific contract, launch or transaction can also be the starting point.
We think of our role as the point guard: understand the plan, see how the pieces fit, and help bring the right people into the work. We handle the agreed legal work and coordinate with other counsel or professional advisers when the matter calls for it.
Drew’s background in college basketball and Caitlin’s years as an amateur and professional boxer are part of that perspective. Alongside Sam’s gaming legal and industry experience, their backgrounds help inform the firm’s work with clients in these fields.

We handle defined projects and ongoing outside counsel work. Fees may be hourly, retainer-based, hybrid, or fixed for a clearly scoped project.
For professional advisors
We collaborate with financial advisors, CPAs, wealth managers, and other professional advisers on clients’ legal matters, including business transactions, contracts, and intellectual property. They provide their own professional services; our role is legal counsel.
